KHL: Alex Kovalev devient entraîneur-chef

The Red Star of Kunlun in the continental hockey League (KHL) confirmed that it had appointed the former star of the Canadian Alex Kovalev to the post of head coach.

The club chinese made the announcement on his Twitter account. Kovalev was as assistant of the team for the past two years, under the direction of Curt Fraser, in the course of the last campaign.

In 2019-2020, the team has maintained a record of 26-28-8, thus taking the 18th place in the overall standings of the KHL. For the season 2020-2021, the training has however already announced that it would be based in Mytichtchi, in Russia, due to the pandemic of COVID-19.

Kovalev has scored 430 goals and totaled 1029 points in 1316 games in the national hockey League (NHL) with the New York Rangers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the canadiens, the Ottawa Senators and the Florida Panthers.
