The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine stressed that the summit should be a catalyst for a major exchange of detainees and dealing with security issues in the Donbass
KIEV, November 14. /TASS/. Ukraine is not planning a bilateral meeting its President, Vladimir Zelensky, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin before the summit in the channel format (Russia, Germany, France, Ukraine). On Thursday said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadim pristayko at a joint press conference with Austrian counterpart Aleksander Shallenberger.”We are not planning a bilateral meeting with Putin”, – said the head of the foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
He added that while Kiev hopes that Zelensky will be able to speak with Putin during the upcoming meeting of leaders “Norman Quartet.”
Foreign Minister of Ukraine also said that the Normandy four discusses several possible dates of the summit, he is expected before the end of the year. “At least you have fulfilled all the preconditions for this meeting. And now the Ukrainian party has consulted with all three other members of the “Normandy four”. We are looking for the best date for all four presidents and the place where will be held this event,” he said.
Pristayko said that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky hopes that the meeting in Normandy format will pave the way for the final solution of the conflict in the Donbass.
“The President Zelensky expects that in the choir of this meeting of leaders, we will be able to solve the security issues, the military part, and open the way for the final solution of the problem of East Ukraine”, – he said.
In addition, according to him, Ukraine believes that the upcoming summit of “Normandy four” have become a catalyst for a major exchange of detained persons. “The exchange is simultaneous, – he explained. – We want to get the maximum number of our citizens who are currently in prison in Russia, and in the so-called people’s republics of Donbass”.
