The mayor of Quebec city has empathy for the victims who feel the need to denounce their aggressor and said to understand that they can do it on social networks, or anonymously.
“It is necessary to denounce. It is sure that it is a bit of a particular denunciation anonymously, in a society of law. There is no doubt about it. But at the same time, those who have been victimized, how do you want them to do? Make a complaint, it is not so obvious.”
The mayor responded to the question on the public denunciation anonymous that has been made regarding the leader of the Bloc québécois, Yves-François Blanchet. Mr. Labeaume has not wanted to comment on the specific case of the politician.
It is estimated that the wave of denunciations current may encourage victims who refoulaient a situation several years ago and which have been marked to take the floor. “If it gets into the skin of victims, women, it is necessary to understand them. […] Continue to denounce it. The how, that is another story. I don’t want to interfere with it. But at the same time, I understand the women who have been assaulted.”
