LAS VEGAS, Nevada | The mayor of Las Vegas has proposed on Wednesday that the citizens of his city are a test group to measure how many people will die from the COVID-19 without measures of social distancing.
In an interview on CNN, Carolyn Goodman insisted on the importance for Americans to re-open the economy and to return to a life a little more normal. More specifically, she is looking forward to the reopening of the casinos is permitted.
More than 45 000 people have succumbed to the COVID-19 in the United States and over 800,000 are infected. When the host of CNN’s Anderson Cooper pointed out to Ms. Goodman that the balance would be even higher if there had not been measures of social distancing, she replied: “how do you know?”
“We don’t know as there will be no groups of tests. I offer to be a test group”, she added.
Carolyn Goodman has stated that she proposed the idea to the statisticians of the city. The latter did not, however, encouraged to go forward.
“They told me that we could not do it, because people from every corner of the southern Nevada come to work in the city. I think it’s a shame, she said. We would have liked to provide this ability to compare.”
According to the Centers for control and prevention of diseases of United States, Nevada account 3937 case of COVID-19.
