COLOMBIA WILL NOT VACCINE VENEZUALIANS IN IRREGULAR SITUATIONS
The Colombian government announced on Monday that it would exclude from the mass vaccination campaign Venezuelan irregular migrants, more than half of the Venezuelans present in the country.
“Those who do not currently have documents of Colombian citizens or who have not regularized their migratory situation, of course they will not be” vaccinated, declared the head of state, Ivan Duque. Without that “it would almost be a call for stampede, for everyone to cross the border to ask for a vaccine”, he justified himself.
About 1.7 million Venezuelans live in Colombia, a country bordering Venezuela, and 55% of them are in an irregular situation, according to figures from migration authorities dating from October.
