A demonstration against government health measures and the wearing of masks is currently underway at La Fontaine Park in Montreal, at the same time as François Legault will take stock of the application of upcoming police measures in the province.
At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, around a hundred people gathered near the Calixa-Lavallée Center to dance to the sound of music, while ignoring the distance of 2 meters recommended outside, and not wearing the mask.
However, the City of Montreal will go to the red zone in a few hours, notably forcing the wearing of a mask during outdoor events.
At 5:15 p.m., speeches began with a few hundred demonstrators.
“It will be one of the last demonstrations without the mask”, expressed the first to speak, followed by several demonstrators who expressed their disagreement.
The speaker strongly suggested, at the request of the police, to respect social distancing in order not to receive tickets.
Some police officers from the SPVM are also on site to supervise the demonstration.
“We live in love and compassion. […] A united people, always will be victorious, expressed in his speech one of the organizers of the last minute demonstration, Daniel Pilon.
