Magnitude 6.4 earthquake strikes off Tonga

SYDNEY | A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Thursday (local time) off the Tonga archipelago in the Pacific, said the American Institute of Geophysics (USGS) which downgraded the violence of the shake announced at 6.7 at first.

The earthquake occurred 35 kilometers deep, 210 km off the northeast of Tonga's capital, Nuku'alofa, where residents say they felt it, but did not report it. no damage.
