Chinese President XI Jinping will cause a state visit to Russia and attend the St. Petersburg international economic forum (SPIEF) from 5 to 7 June, reports TASS with reference to the official representative the Ministry of foreign Affairs of China Lou Kahn.
“At the invitation of the Russian side, Chinese President XI Jinping will visit Russia on a state visit on June 5-7, and will also take part in international economic forum in St. Petersburg”, – said the diplomat.
All the details of the visit, Lu Kan has promised to inform at a special press conference that will take place tomorrow morning.
Note that the Chinese leader’s visit has the status of a state, as he will be the first official XI Jinping’s visit to Russia after his re-election as President of China in March 2018.
Russia and China have a tradition of mutual exchanges of visits of leaders every two years, with the Russian President and the Chinese President visited the country-a neighbor a few times a year to participate in international events. For example, in 2018, Vladimir Putin arrived in China on a state visit, and XI went to Vladivostok with working visit to participate in the WEF. This year is the turn of Moscow to accept the Chinese leader, but the President of Russia in April came to China to participate in the forum of “One belt, one road”.
We will remind, the forum will be held from 6 to 8 June 2019. Its main theme is “Shaping the agenda of sustainable development.” On the sidelines of the event, will host the Second Russian-Chinese energy business forum.
The program of SPIEF-2019 consists of four thematic blocks: “the World economy is in search of balance”, “the Russian economy: realizing the goal of national development” “Technology that brings the future”, “People – first”. At the Forum, there are 120 events in a variety of formats, including two plenary sessions, panel sessions, round tables, business breakfasts and debates.
