Experts of the Green Car Journal announced the winners of the competition Green Car of the Year, where annually take part the hybrids or models with the most effective power unit.
The main prize of the Green Car of the Year received a Toyota Corolla.
In the category of crossovers the winner was the Honda CR-V.
It should be noted that Corolla beat out the competition Ford Escape, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Soul, and Mazda3. Japanese Honda CR-V competed against the Ford Explorer Hybrid, Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, Toyota Highlander Hybrid, and Toyota RAV4.
Crossover Honda CR-V 2020 model year was the first hybrid crossover Korean brand attended the North American market. According to statements by Honda, by 2030 approximately two-thirds of all models in the lineup the automaker will get electric motors.
It is worth noting that electric cars are very popular, because in 2019, sales of these vehicles increased by 34% and amounted to 50 thousand copies.
Hybrid Toyota Corolla introduced in the US in 2018. The power plant of the vehicle consists of a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine working together with two electric motors-generators.
