French pianist Alexander Kantorov won the Grand Prix at the International Tchaikovsky competition, reported the press service of the competition.
The name of the winner after the final concert on the second stage of the Mariinsky theatre has announced the co-chair of the organizing Committee, conducted by Valery Gergiev.
The contest winners were awarded Friday at a ceremony at the Pashkov House in Moscow. Violinists first place went to Russian Sergey Dogadin, the best was the cellist Zlatomir Fung from the United States. In the women’s solo singing was distinguished Russian Maria barakova, while the men’s Greek Alexandros Stavrakakis.
In 2019 for the first time held a competition on copper and wooden wind instruments. On brass instruments it is best played by the young Chinese Zheng and Russian Alexey Lobikov, and wooden – Russian Matvey Demin, who played the flute.
The international Tchaikovsky competition is one of the most prestigious competitions among young academic musicians. It is held since 1958 once every four years.
