NANTES, 24/09/2013 Cyclists on the new axis bike track — FABRICE ELSNER/20MINUTES
The news should delight the riders. While a lane, called axis bike north-south, connected from 2014 to the Martyrs square, in Rezé at the end of the cours des 50-Otages, this track will soon be extended to two kilometers to the north, announces Nantes métropole.
Friday, the elect gathered in the metropolitan council must consider the project, which is to extend the cycle route along the Erdre, from the pont Morand to the bridge of the Tortière. In detail, the layout provides that the trail goes up the eastern shore (dock Ceineray, rue Sully, quai Barbusse…) up to the bridge of the Motte-and-Red. The bikes will then go to the other side, along the boulevard Van Iseghem.

The extension completed in 2019
Wider than a runway regular, two-way, this axis has a coating adapted and is laid out in ” own site “. “The course will be consistent, without gaps, and will be distinct from that of the pedestrians to avoid conflicts of use,” says Jacques Garreau, vice-president of Nantes métropole in charge of commuting mild.
The work (3.160.000 euros) should begin in the summer of 2018, for delivery beginning in 2019. An axis cycle similar, connecting the bridges Willy-Brandt and Anne de Bretagne (East-West), was inaugurated three years ago.
