The American Agency NASA has selected 11 companies that will develop and produce a prototype spacecraft for landing on the moon. This work will be conducted within the framework of the lunar program of the USA “Artemis”, said the press service of the organization.
As noted, in particular, chosen company, SpaceX, Aerojet Rocketdyne Blue Origin, Boeing, Dynetics, Lockheed Martin, Masten Space Systems, Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems, OrbitBeyond, SSL, and Sierra Nevada Corporation. It is expected that they will implement a prototype within six months.
NASA said they want to send to the South pole of the moon two American astronauts – female and male – by 2024. Regular missions to the moon are planned to organize in 2028.
Earlier, the head of the American aerospace company Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos, presented the layout of the spacecraft for landing on the surface of the moon called Blue Moon. The weight of the unit is about 15 thousand pounds, it can carry four ATV.
