The first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev intends to support a new head of state after the election to ensure the peaceful transit of power. The leader of the nation said at the plenary session of the 12th Astana economic forum, reports “Interfax”.
“My whole work will be concluded to support the work of the new President and to provide transit in a relaxed atmosphere and to continue the work we started,” said Nazarbayev.
He noted that the new time for the country of Kazakhstan, “comes with a clear understanding of its mission, strategic objectives and the need for continuity of the chosen course”.
The President said he believes the current President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who was nominated for election from the ruling party “Nur Otan”, the most prepared person. He, according to him, will be able to continue the job and provide continuity.
The President intends to continue “to participate in the work on strategic directions of development of the state, including domestic and foreign policy and security”. “This is especially important when there is a rapid transformation of all global economic processes,” – said the first President of the country.
Early presidential elections in Kazakhstan will take place on 9 June.
