It was an unusual collision that occurred on Sunday night in Monday, January 11, 2021. A stray horse crashed into an ambulance at Colombier-Saugnieu (Rhône), east of Lyon. The vehicle is damaged, the equine is dead and the controversy swells.

    The mayor denounces the owner

According to the mayor of Colombier-Saugnieu, it is surely not the ambulance but indeed the owner of the horses who is at the origin of the tragedy.

Convinced of the responsibility of the owner and fearing that a new accident might occur, he “seized the public prosecutor as well as the Prefect of the Rhône for endangerment of road users and of course animals« .

    Already convicted of animal abuse

Following a first lawsuit opposing the town hall to the owner, the court ordered him to pay three fines and ordered the confiscation of horses.

Only the latter have not yet been removed because their owner has appealed against this decision, he explains on BFM Lyon.

By addressing this time directly to the public prosecutor, the mayor Pierre Marmonier hopes to enforce these sanctions definitively and avoid a drama worse.
