    New variant of the Coronavirus: France suspends its flights and trains from the United Kingdom

    After the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany and Ireland, France has in turn decided to suspend travel from Great Britain, due to the new strain of Coronavirus discovered in addition -handle. This restriction will come into force from midnight tonight, for a period of “48 hours at least”.

    <p>Since this Sunday morning, flights from the United Kingdom are <strong>prohibited in the Netherlands</strong>. The reason ? The discovery in the country of a case of contamination with a variant of the Coronavirus which turns out to be more contagious. Just hours after the announcement of this decision by the Dutch government, the <strong>Belgium</strong> followed suit and in turn announced the suspension of flights and trains from Great Britain. <strong>Italy, Germany then Ireland</strong> followed during the day, announcing in turn to ban air links with Great Britain.

    And the France ? Emmanuel Macron summoned a Health Defense Council last minute this Sunday at 5 p.m. in order to take stock of the situation. At the end of this meeting, Matignon announced that France in turn suspends “all movement of persons, including freight transport, by road, air, sea or rail from the United Kingdom“, at “starting this Sunday, December 20 at midnight“. “Only unaccompanied freight will therefore be authorized. Flows of people or transport to the UK are not affected“, specified the services of the Prime Minister.

    The President of the Republic (…) has decided that France, like other European countries, is taking safeguard measures by suspending traffic from the United Kingdom to France from midnight tonight, not only to passenger transport but also for freight transport for at least 48 hours“, specified the Minister for Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, sure LCI.

    It is recalled that the British government has taken the decision to re-confine London and the South-East of England, including for Christmas and New Year, because of this mutation of the virus.
