No crowds for Canada day

For the first time in more than 40 years, there will be no crowd to Ottawa tomorrow on the occasion of Canada day.

Pandemic is forcing, the traditional show of the 1st July, hosted by Pierre-Yves Lord and Serena Ryder, will take place on the small screen.

As for the fireworks to 22h, it will be entirely virtual. There will be no more family activities on the hill, as it is usually the case.

The vast terrain of the Parliament, which is usually the epicenter of the party, had been ruled out of plans for the celebrations even before the COVID-19 due to the renovation work of the building of the Centre.

The site grugeant 50% of the available space, the stage on the 1st of July should be moved to Major’s Hill park behind the Chateau Laurier. But the pandemic has forced the organisers to opt for a presentation behind closed doors to a public web and tv.

In Montreal, pont Samuel-De Champlain will illuminate for the first time in red and white at sunset and up to 1 hour in the morning.
