In the UK, underwater archaeologists began to investigate the sunken ship “the President” belonging to the East India company. On Board were expensive cargo of pearls and diamonds. About it reports “inform – UA”.
The ship in the second half of the XVII century belonged to the East India company. In 1684 “the President” was returning from India, it holds transported pearls and diamonds. But the ship was wrecked and sank, but the crew managed to survive only two. They managed to reach the shore of Mounts Bay near the city Porthleven, UK. Data on the exact location of the shipwreck made by Dutch cartographer Johannes van Kellen on the map of Cornwall.
About twenty years ago, the ship was found, but the provisions contained in the Act on the protection of wrecks 1973, the year did not allow archaeologists to carry out a search operation.
It is noted that recently the storms the wreck is stripped from the layers of sand on the bottom of the waters of the Atlantic ocean. As a result, the government organisation Historic England gave underwater archaeologist David Gibbins and his team permission to survey the wreckage of the ship.
“During the survey of underwater archaeologists have discovered seven guns and an anchor belonging to the ship, and located just a few metres from the coast at a depth of less than seven meters”, — stated in the message.
It should be noted that the researchers believe that the treasure was in the form of diamonds and pearls are still somewhere among the wreckage, because from the day of the shipwreck, treasure ship remained intact.
