Oleg Tabakov (17 August 1935 – 12 March 2018) – actor, Director, teacher.
Oleg Tabakov was born on August 18 1935 in a family of doctors of Pavel Kondratyevich Tabakov and Maria Andreevna Berezovskaya. His childhood the future actor and artistic Director spent in a communal apartment and already knew from childhood what is a ruble earned by adults as honesty, kindness and hard work close side by side with hypocrisy, sanctimony and opportunism of the society.
That all changed when the war broke out. Father went to the front, worked on the hospital train, Oleg’s mom were evacuated to the Urals, and during the war years, Maria Andreevna worked in a military hospital near the railway station Elton. The head of the family returned home, but soon after he and his wife had separated. This was a huge blow for the boy, literally caused physical pain, reports Rus.Media.
Left without male guardianship, and the boy almost got into the wrong company, contact, street punks. Someone told mom about this Oleg, and the woman took the son’s hand and led him to a theatrical circle “Young guard” at the Palace of pioneers. He was lucky to get to the teacher Natalya Iosifovna Sukhostav that tobacco was subsequently named its godmother in the acting profession. Although the audition in the Studio he spoke very softly and indistinctly, the woman took him to the group, and after a few months he played on the stage in key roles. In the drama club, he worked from 1950 to 1953.
After graduating from the Saratov school №18, Tabakov decided to go to Moscow to enroll in drama school. Relatives tried to dissuade him, sincerely wishing good – few people believed that the guy from the province with three years local drama club overcome a brutal entrance test. But perhaps the Saratov theatre school has always been strong: Oleg took in the School-Studio of the Moscow art theatre and GITIS. He preferred the first, because I thought this University, “summit theatre pedagogy”.
The first role
In educational performances Tabakov played mostly a positive role. Playing one day the inspector from “Inspector”, he received a comment from one of the teachers: “it Turns out you dozed a great comedian”. Diploma from the School he received in 1957, after which it took in the theater of Stanislavsky.
In 1956 he and a group of like-minded graduates And school (among them were Oleg Efremov, Igor Kvasha, Galina Volchek, Evgenie Yevstigneyev and others), founded the Sovremennik theatre (then called the “Studio of young actors”). As the trial chose the play “Forever living”: the artistic Director was Oleg Yefremov (he played the role Borozdina), Tobacco (Lelik, as he was called by his friends) played a student Mike.
Rehearsed 4 months, premiered on April 8, 1957. Critics have pointed out that saw the production of anything new – it was just a “classic good Mat”. These words a group of young actors took it as praise, because it is a revival of aesthetic ideals of the theatre, free from the RAID of the “Soviet times” was their main goal.
First “Contemporary” lived under the wing of the Theater, but after the third play, “Nobody” (in which tobacco played 3 roles) the management of the theatre artists accused of flouting tradition and kick them out of the room. Only 4 years later the theatre was knocked own room, which was located on Mayakovsky street. Tobacco was a regular artist of Sovremennik theatre until 1983, has been involved in more than 30 productions.
As a student, tobacco began to act in films. At first it was as in the crowd, but in 1956 he got the main role in the film “Tight knot”. In the story of his character Sasha Komleva father dies, and the boy adopts the collective farm Chairman who films it was shown a notorious bureaucrat. It’s not like the censors, the actor who played the role of Chairman was replaced, and the film received another name – “Sasha comes to life.” The original audience still saw, but only 30 years.
At the turn of the 50s and 60s about the talented actors of the theater “Contemporary” knew the whole of Moscow. A truly national glory Tabakov received after the release in 1960 on the screens two films: the drama “people on the bridge” and action-painting “Probation”.
The first heroes of the theatre called “Rozovskii boys”. Student named Oleg Savin, which Tabakov played in the film “Noisy day” on the play “finding joy” Rozov, Viktor is the epitome of the best features in people, time Khrushchev: the rectitude of judgment, purity of thought, ability to defend their position. This applies to Oleg Savin and Viktor Bulygin from the movie “people on the bridge”, and to Sasha Egorov from “Probation” and Serge from “clear sky”, and many subsequent roles Tabakov
From this role he moved in the movie “Young, green” (1963). Many doubted he Tabakov with his youthful appearance will be able to convincingly play the foreman and Deputy grandma. But it is skillfully managed, and after it was approved for the role of Lieutenant Krutikova from “the Living and the dead” – the first negative role in the filmography of Oleg Tabakov.
According to the recollections of actors of Sovremennik, in those years they were so popular that sometimes employees Mosfilm was waiting for them right at the exit of the theater, put in the car and drove to the set. Crazy work schedule affected the health Tabakov – at the age of 29 he suffered a heart attack. Doctors were disappointing – he was advised to engage with the performances forever. But the past couple of months, and he has every evening rehearsed the play “Ordinary story”, which in 1967 received the national award of the Soviet Union, and the tobacco for total services was awarded a badge of Honor.
In 1966, viewers saw Tabakov in the role of Nikolai Rostov in “War and peace” by Sergei Bondarchuk, in the company of Vyacheslav Tikhonov and Lyudmila Savelyeva.
In 1968 Oleg Tabakov invited to the Prague theatre “Cinoherni club” to play the inspector in the play “the Inspector General”. All Czech viewers were shown 30 plays, each of which tore the applause,
In 1970, after Oleg Yefremov, left the Moscow art theatre, Oleg Tabakov became the head of “Contemporary”, while continuing to get on stage with the other actors. He showed himself to be quite rigid and uncompromising chief: without hesitation punish the shirkers and slackers, and once fired Oleg dal came to the show drunk and could not reach to the audience. According to Oleg Pavlovicha, the theater is a big family, where all children should grow in justice.
Oleg Pavlovich was one of the first who took part in the dramas, became the first experience in productions of “pencil drawing” and “games”. On television he recorded two solo performance (“Vasily Terkin” and “the little humpbacked Horse”). Then brilliantly played the main roles in the television productions of “the Magic skin,” “Ivan Fyodorovich Shponka and his aunt”, “Aesop” and “Potters”, participated in creating the TV version of the play “twelfth night”.
In 1973 he got the role of SS General Schellenberg in “17 moments of spring” Vyacheslav Tikhonov in the title role, after which he began to learn outside of the Soviet Union.
In 1976, he again showed his Comedy chops in “12 chairs” by Mark Zaharov. In the epic about the adventures of the heroes of Andrei Mironov and Anatoly Papanova he played a shy caretaker thief Alhena.
“12 chairs”: Tabakov in the role of a thief In 1978 Tabakov began work on the scoring of the cat Matroskin cartoon “Three from Buttermilk”. Ball was voiced by Lev Durov, and uncle Fyodor – Maria Vinogradova. Today it is difficult to imagine what would happen if your favorite childhood heroes speak in other voices. This is one of the most famous works of theatre as a voice actor, but not the only. Perhaps best of all he likes the voices of the characters-the cats – he dubbed the voice of the main character in the movie “Garfield” and its sequel.
A year later, the audience appreciated his performance of king Louis XIII in the musical “d’artanyan and three Musketeers”, which gathered a truly stellar cast: Mikhail Boyarsky, Veniamin Smekhov, Igor Starygin, Irina Alfyorova, Alisa Freundlich, Margarita Terekhova. The vocals were performed by Tabakov Vladimir Chuikin.
Songs of Louis XIII, not included in “the Three Musketeers” Four years ago Nikita Mikhalkov presented the result of their collaboration – drama “unfinished piece for mechanical piano” based on Chekhov’s short stories. In the same year he was awarded the title of Honored artist of the RSFSR. In 1980, the world saw a different picture Mikhalkov with Tabakov in the title role – “a Few days from the life of Oblomov”, which got a success with audiences outside of the country, collected the prize at the international festivals and 10 days was shown at the new York cinema “Embassy” with the inevitable sell-out.
In 1983 the long-standing cooperation with the “Contemporary” over a move to the Mat. The first role of Oleg Pavlovich played on this stage was the Salieri of “Amadeus”.
In 1988 Tabakov was awarded the title of National artist. Until the early 90s, he was one of the richest actors Union (although the monetary reform of 1992 was tragically affected by his condition). After the collapse of the USSR Oleg Pavlovich continued to act in films (“Shirley-Myrli” with Vera Alentova, “the Granddaughter of President” with Nadezhda Mikhalkova, “the Orphan Kazan” Elena Shevchenko, etc), regularly went on stage, but most of the time takes away from his teaching of the art of acting to the younger generation.
In 1974, at the theatre, confident that “it is necessary to continuously acquire and collect their professional skills”, had the idea to create his own Studio. Wanting to do the Tabakov has appeared more than four thousand, but were selected only 18 people. Five of them entered GITIS, the course, who undertook to teach tobacco.
Programme Tabakov was very different from what is taught to students in school. The students read “zapresheno”, arranged a meeting with religious figures in art of the time, like Vladimir Vysotsky and Bulat Okudzhava.
Oleg Tabakov and his “chicken tobacco” In 1977, this course became the basis for the future of the theatre “Tabakerka”. Among young people there were many known artists: Igor Nefedov, Andrey Smolyakov, Elena Mayorova.
In 1986, Tabakov became rector of the School-Studio MXAT. This position he held until 2000, after which he headed the Department of artistic art. In 1992, on his initiative was founded the Summer school of acting of Stanislavsky in Boston
In 2000 he became artistic Director of the Moscow art theatre. Chekhov. The first thing the new artistic Director has embarked on a complete upgrade of the repertoire, which invited Directors with a fresh look (Kirill Serebrennikov and Konstantin Bogomolov, Sergey Zhenovach) and actors (Konstantin Khabensky, Yuri Chursin, Irina Pegova, Maxim Matveev and others).
In 2009, the artist announced the creation of the College acting in “Snuff”. Each year, the institution has taken 24 people, accommodation and all the needs which were financed from the budget of Moscow. Thus, according to Tabakov, teachers College are looking for young talented actors, traveling to remote corners of Russia.
The theatre is in need of nuggets from the provinces, and begin to study acting, have since childhood.
In August 2015, Oleg Tabakov celebrated his eightieth birthday. His birthday he met as Director and artistic Director of the Moscow art theatre. A. P. Chekhov , as well as a member of the Council for culture and arts under the President of Russia.
Personal life of Oleg Tabakov
The first wife of Oleg Tabakov became an actress, Lyudmila Krylova (1938), who bore her husband two children: Anton (1960) and Alexander (1966).
Still a schoolgirl, she came to theatre Sovremennik and without memory fell in love with Oleg. Then she firmly set out to do in acting school, came in the “Sliver” and began working in Small theatre and regularly attend all performances with the troupe of Sovremennik, not losing hope to meet my idol.
One day she got a call from the Studio and asked to send a photo – one “picky actor” could not choose a partner for the new film. As it turned out, this girl was tobacco.
As I remember now – empty dressing room, with his back stands a woman in a white robe, sitting in a chair man, I see in the mirror his reflection and almost fall! My knees shook, rattled teeth.
As argued by Liudmila, the romance between them began on the first night Dating. Two months after the birth of first child lovers, and signed immediately after the ZAGS returned to the rehearsal in the theater.
It seemed that their marriage will endure all the hardships and vicissitudes of the acting profession, but in 1981 for a course at GITIS Tabakov received a 16-year-old Marina Zudina. During the College years, their relationship went far beyond the “student – teacher” (despite a 30 year age difference), but for a long time they were able to hide this fact. In 1995, after a 10-year-old Roman, Oleg Tabakov and Marina Zudina signed. Your care of the family Oleg Tabakov and commented: “As corny as it sounds, came lyubof-f-f…”
Almost 20 years later he told in one interview that the relationship between him and Lyudmila has deteriorated because she has got rid of his beloved dog while he was on tour.
Children from the first marriage did not forgive the father gap with Krylova. Anton and Alexander withdrew from the acting profession. The son was engaged in the restaurant business, raised four children: Nikita, Anna, Antonina, and Maria. Daughter broke up with Tabakov, some time was radio and TV presenter, then married a German cnodelate Jan Lifers, which in 1988 gave birth to a daughter Pauline. After the divorce Alexandra with her daughter (which is the name of the father) returned to Moscow.
In 1995, Marina Zudina gave Oleg Pavlovich, son of Paul, and in 2006 a daughter Mary. Growing up, Pavel Tabakov continued the work of his father, graduated from the school-Studio of Oleg Tabakov, joining there honestly, without cronyism, has been busy in the productions of the Moscow art theatre.
