Now we are searching to find survivors in a plane crash on the way to Antarctica
The plane of the Chilean air force, disappeared from radar screens on the way to Antarctica, crashed. It is reported by RBC-Ukraine citing the press-service of the air force on Twitter.
As noted, there are ongoing searches to find survivors. On Board were 38 people: 17 crew members and 21 passengers. Crashed Board – military transport Lockheed C-130 Hercule.
The statement of the Chilean air force stated that since the loss of radio communications, it took more than seven hours. Soon after his disappearance, the representative military-air forces of the country reported that the C-130 was sufficient fuel to continue flying for several more hours thanks to a local contractor who could fix the communication line, find them here. Thus, at the time of publication of the message of the Chilean air force fuel the plane ran out.
The plane was heading from Punta arenas to the Chilean Antarctic station Arturo Prat is located on the South Shetland Islands. This station from 1947 to 2004 functioned as a base of the Chilean Navy to monitor the weather.
