One of the wanted criminals in the netherlands, suspected of having ordered several murders and have been involved in a vast drug trafficking, has been arrested in Colombia, announced on Saturday that the Dutch police.
Said Razzouki, a Dutchman of moroccan origin, is considered as the right arm of another famous criminal, Ridouan Taghi, alleged head of a gang of cocaine trafficking. The last one had been arrested in Dubai in December, before being transferred to the netherlands.
The two men were the subject of international arrest warrants for murder and drug trafficking.
“The fugitive Said Razzouki was arrested Friday in a building of the colombian city of Medellin” (north), in collaboration with the forces of law and order in the country as well as the u.s. agency anti-drug (DEA) and the FBI, has advised the Dutch police in a press release.
The 47-year-old is regarded as the number two criminal organization of Ridouan Taghi, called “the well-oiled killing machine” by the Dutch court. It is one of the main suspects in an extensive trial in the netherlands for five murders and several attempted murders.
Said Razzouki and Ridouan Taghi had attracted international attention in September, when the lawyer for a key witness in this case had been shot dead near his home in Amsterdam.
The police promised a reward of 100,000 euros (approximately$ 145,000) in exchange for information that could lead to the arrest of Saïd Razzouki.
The public prosecutor of the netherlands has requested his extradition from the colombian authorities. “The procedure should take some time,” said the police.
