The parc des Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, Lévis, was abruptly evacuated to facilitate the holding of a major police operation in connection with the stalking of Martin Carpentier, Wednesday, close to memorial citizen dedicated to the young victims Romy and Norah, but there was finally no trace of the suspect on the spot.
At 8h49, a large number of police officers of the Sûreté du Québec and Lévis, some come equipped with BIKE and motorcycle, headed off to this place.
Suddenly, all the visitors were requested to leave the premises and access to the park has been closed, much to the astonishment of many citizens who were present, noted The Journal.
According to our information, the investigators wanted to check a report about an unidentified man who was “hidden” in a wooded area near the falls.
“We received a call informing us that a particular individual, bizarre, riding in the Falls park in Charny, so immediately, it does not take any information lightly, […] the police de Lévis arrived at the park, police officers from the Sûreté du Québec, also, describes Christian Cantin, a spokesperson for the police Department of the City of Lévis (SPVL).
30 kilometres from Saint-Apollinaire, where the man-hunt to find the father of 44 years, suspected of the abduction of his daughters, has primarily been driving for a week, this track seemed promising. But it was finally added to the list of unsuccessful attempts to find Carpentier.
On-site, a grid search has been performed and the individual who was the subject of the alert was quickly found. “[It] does not correspond at all to the suspect who is wanted in Saint-Apollinaire”, said Mr. Cantin. The man was referred to the hospital to receive the treatment appropriate to his condition.
“We had a report, it was verified, it is negative”, also confirmed Hélène Nepton, a spokesman for the SQ.
For the past week, police have conducted several audits of the kind. Most of them have not been conclusive. It is noted, however, that the authorities don’t take any risk and deal with serious information submitted by the public.
