U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo and Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet in Washington the day after the summit in “Norman format” and will discuss the situation in Ukraine.

Pompeo is going to meet with Lavrov on Tuesday, December 10. The foreign Ministers of the USA and Russia will discuss a number of issues, including the situation in Ukraine.
“U.S. Secretary of state Pompeo and foreign Minister Lavrov are expected to discuss such issues causing disagreements between the two countries, as Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, and arms control,” — said the source publication.According to the Associated Press, the U.S. and Russia will hold talks press conference.
The last time Lavrov was in Washington on a working visit in may 2017. Then he met with the President of the United States Donald trump and the then Secretary of state, Rex Tillerson.
We will remind that on 9 December in Paris will meet in “Norman format” leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France, which will discuss the solution to the problem of settlement of the military conflict in the Donbass.
Note that Zelensky convened a meeting of the Council before the “channel meeting”. On 7 December the Council of national security and defense will hold a closed meeting on the decision of the head of state Vladimir Zelensky before the talks in the “Normandy format”.
Zelensky also confirmed that during the summit he will have a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelensky said that he is not afraid of a personal meeting with Putin, but is afraid of fruitless negotiations.
“I am a normal person, I don’t sell our country”, — said Zelensky.
He also said that local elections in the occupied territory of Donbass should take place simultaneously with the entire area of the country, according to the laws of Ukraine, and border control.
