New, affordable Taycan is on the trail, padded versions, Turbo and Turbo S with two electric motors, two-speed transmission and electric architecture 800 volts which provides an impressive charging speed.
Every 4S comes standard with a lithium-ion battery for 79.2 per kilowatt-hour, while Porsche will offer a Turbo and Turbo S from 93.4 kWh in an option called Battery Plus Performance.
Basic battery works together with two electric motors that produces 522 horsepower, while the larger battery gives a output of 563 HP
No matter which battery you choose, Taycan 4S will reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h and can accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
For reference, the base Tesla Model S achieves the same high and can reach 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. Given the trend of Porsche to offer a conservative performance, we would not have to invest heavily in a slight advantage of the Model S.
From the point of view of the range, Tesla would probably be better Taycan, however Porsche has not published estimates of the range of speed, stating that the EPA figures will be available before the 4S will arrive to dealers. Latest Taycan, especially with Performance Plus Battery, need to have more reserve than Taycan Turbo and Turbo S.
Tesla also has a cost advantage because the base price Taycan 4S is 103 $ 800, and Performance Plus Battery adds another 6 580 dollars. For comparison, the Model S Long Range starts with 79 990 USD, and the Model S Performance for 99 990 dollars.
Porsche did not specify what performance options will be available on the 4S (besides the statement that it will retain the three-chamber air suspension with adaptive dampers), but, according to preliminary information, the basic Taycan will be available with the same set of high-performance technology suspension that the Turbo and Turbo S, for customers willing to fork out.
Taycan 4S will continue to offer impressive charging speed, thanks to its 800-volt architecture provides the charging speed of 270 kilowatt Performance Plus with Battery and power 225 kW as standard.
Porsche has not said how quickly it can recharge the standard battery, but additional installation may still provide charge from 5 to 80% in just 22.5 minutes. Porsche 4S Taycan 2020 will appear at dealers in the spring of 2020.
