Premier Tech sets foot in Bécancour

Quebec multinational Premier Tech is preparing to make a major investment in Bécancour, as announced by TVA Nouvelles last December.

In a first phase in Bécancour, according to unconfirmed information, an alfalfa processing plant would be built. We are ultimately talking about an investment of at least $ 200 million.

The machinery is on the ground in order to deforest and develop infrastructure. However, it is indicated that at this stage, we are only at the soil analyzes in order to assess its bearing capacity.

Premier Tech, whose head office is in Rivière-du-Loup, employs 4,500 people around the world. The company is active in multiple sectors including agriculture, horticulture, food, packaging equipment, environmental technologies, wastewater, seeds and de-icers.

According to what TVA Nouvelles was able to know, the official announcement of the project would take place in October. The mayor of Bécancour is confident that it will come true.

“Taking into account the quality of the company which is behind, and which is Quebecer, and also considering that it enters the ropes of our industrial park at the level of sustainable development I have every reason to think that this time will be the right one, ”believes Jean-Guy Dubois.
