Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting of the Council of heads of member States of the SCO, held in Bishkek, drew attention to the situation in Afghanistan. According to him, the Islamic Republic needs help with national reconciliation and economic recovery.
“Requires special attention to the situation in Afghanistan. My colleagues have already talked about this,” said Putin in his speech. He stressed that Russia supports the plan of the SCO on Afghanistan. In particular, the organization intends to expand cooperation with Afghanistan in security, economic and humanitarian cooperation. It is expected that the summit will be signed the corresponding “road map”.
We will remind, the Afghan question Vladimir Putin also touched upon in an exclusive interview with TV channel “MIR”, which was released on the eve of the SCO summit.
“Of course, we are worried about middle East issues, but no less worried and everything to do with Iran’s nuclear program, with North Korea. Especially attentively we follow the events in Afghanistan. Here, incidentally, we are quite vigorously and, in my opinion, with the benefit of cooperating with so many countries, including the United States, which there are a certain load and maintain the situation in Afghanistan”, – said Putin. The President expressed hope that the joint work of different countries in this direction “will give good results.”
In Bishkek on Friday held a summit of the SCO. Part of the SCO – India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Four States – Mongolia, Iran, Afghanistan and Belarus have observer status. Six countries – Sri Lanka, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal – dialogue partners. The outcome document of the meeting will be the Bishkek Declaration.
