Putin arrived in Bishkek to attend the SCO summit and met with Jeenbekov

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Bishkek, where he will take part in session of Council of heads of member States of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO), the press service of the Kremlin.

The head of state met at the airport with his colleague from Kyrgyzstan Jeenbekov Sooronbai. The leaders talked about the prospects of further cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan. The also discussed the upcoming summit of the SCO.

Earlier Putin in an exclusive interview of broadcasting company “the WORLD” noted that the SCO has become quite serious and multidimensional regional organization. “The SCO is an international organization that was born in a natural way in the mid 90-ies, and this was associated with early work on the border problems among Russia, China and several former Soviet Union republics is Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan. And then, after this work was completed successfully and yielded good practical results, we all came to the conclusion that this format can not only save, but also to give it a new status. Namely, the status of an organization that would deal with the development of relations in various fields and activities. And so it happened,” – said the Russian leader.

Thursday Jeenbekov held meetings with the President of China XI Jinping, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirzieev and head of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
