Putin has declared the floods in the Irkutsk region the emergency situation

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the floods in the Irkutsk region, the emergency of the Federal character and instructed to establish a special level of response. The decree published on the Kremlin website.

“To involve in liquidation of emergency situations connected with flooding of territory of the Irkutsk region, the Russian Armed forces, other troops and military formations”, – is spoken in the decree.

Putin also ordered the insurers to expedite the payment of funds to the victims of the flooding and ordered the government to allocate additional funds from the reserve Fund for compensation of costs associated with the disaster.

In addition, the Russian leader called for to prevent the growth of prices on goods and essential services in the affected area.

Recall that strong rains in Irkutsk oblast on 25 June, followed by floods. As a result of sudden rise of water level in rivers Biryusa, UDA, Ut, Ia, Ikaika and Kirei have been flooded in 83 settlements of the region. According to the latest data, the number of victims of flooding has reached 20 people.
