Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the capital of Kyrgyzstan ahead of the summit of the Shanghai cooperation organization. At the airport “Manas” it is personally met President Sooronbai Jeenbekov. There have been talks of the two presidents. The politicians discussed prospects of further cooperation of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the upcoming summit of the SCO. In addition, Putin met in Bishkek with Prime Minister of India Narendra modi. The sides discussed expansion of trade-economic ties.
Before the summit, Vladimir Putin in an exclusive interview of broadcasting company “the WORLD” told about the principles of work of the SCO.
“The SCO is an international organization that was born in a natural way in the mid 90-ies, and this was associated with early work on the border problems among Russia, China and several former Soviet Union republics is Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan. And then, after this work was completed successfully and yielded good practical results, we all came to the conclusion that this format can not only save, but also to give it a new status. Namely, the status of an organization that would deal with the development of relations in various fields and activities. And so it happened,” – said the head of state.
“She, therefore, was created, and then in the course of its work it became clear that the tasks which it sets itself, the issues it decides are attractive for other countries in the region, so many States in various capacities – it is 18 countries, in my opinion- and as full members and as observers joined the work,” continued Putin.
Thus, SCO has become “quite serious and multidimensional regional organization,” concluded the President.
We will remind, on June 14 in Bishkek starts the official events of the SCO summit. Putin will take part in the meetings in narrow and expanded formats, as well as the reception on behalf of Sooronbay Zheenbekov in honour of the heads of States participating in the meeting of the Council of the SCO. In the second half of day the Russian leader will hold meetings with President of China XI Jinping and President of Mongolia Khaltmagiin Battulga, as well as the leader of Iran Hassan Rouhani.
