Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to send children from the flood-affected districts of the Irkutsk region to summer camps across the country, reports RIA “Novosti”.
“Children from the affected areas should be sent to summer camps, including in other regions, younger children should be placed together with the parents, ‘” said Putin at a meeting on the disaster in the Irkutsk region, in Bratsk.
“I was told that work is underway to coordinate these positions with leaders of nearby regions, but I asked colleagues from Federal agencies to see to put the children in the whole country,” said Putin, adding that Russia has many nice places for children’s activities.
Floods in the Irkutsk region began due to heavy rains. Now the region has a state of emergency. In 31 settlements are impounded almost 3.8 thousand houses. They are more than 9 thousand people, including more than 2 thousand children.
According to the latest Ministry of emergency situations of Russia, the floods in the region killed three people, hospitalized 97.
