Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Moscow’s plans to ratify the Paris climate agreement in the near future. The head of state noted that climate change in the country are two times faster than the planet as a whole. He stated this on Saturday at the final press conference of the summit of “Big twenty” (G20) in Osaka Japanese, reports “Interfax”.
Putin noted that the approval document will need to undertake the necessary domestic procedures.
“We have repeatedly said on the forum once again cleared it and the final product. We’re going to fully meet its obligations. Soon we will move to ratification of these agreements, we will have the corresponding domestic procedures. For us, a matter very relevant,” – said the Russian leader.
The President has noticed that according to the meteorologist, the warming in Russia is two times faster than the planet as a whole. This leads, in particular to the melting of permafrost and flooding near large settlements.
The head of state noted that he told the summit participants about the national program of Russia on ecology, which involves the use of best available technologies for the conservation of the environment.
Putin stressed that all countries participating in the G20, with the exception of the USA, expressed readiness to fulfill the Paris climate agreement. However, the Russian leader added that the leadership of the United States also intends to participate in solving environmental problems in their program.
