Russian President Vladimir Putin during talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Osaka, where took place the summit of “Big twenty”, said that they were able to establish a dialogue on a peace Treaty, reports TASS.
Putin noted that States have “hard work” for the removal of Russian-Japanese relations to a new qualitative level.
Abe stressed that to solve the problem 70 years ago – not an easy task, but the steps to resolve the issue you need to take.
“Today, we again reaffirmed their determination to advance the peace Treaty negotiations,” said Japanese Prime Minister.
The parties came to several agreements on establishment of joint economic activities on the Kuril Islands. The plans provide for the implementation of several projects.
During the meeting the parties discussed international issues, paying special attention to the situation on the Korean Peninsula. According to the Russian leader, nuclear disarmament can only be achieved through diplomatic means.
“We need a constructive and focused dialogue of the countries involved. The only way to ensure security and development for the overall us region – northeast Asia,” – said Putin.
