Approximately 1800 households in need can receive help thanks to the addition of new units of rent supplement emergency that will be made available this year. The cost of this measure amounted to $21.5 million.

Of these new units, 200 new will be reserved to facilitate the social reintegration of persons in a situation of roaming on the territory of the City of Montreal.

An additional amount of $ 7.4 million is also provided to ensure that the ministry of Health and social Services accompanies them in their efforts, through the community.

To note, the government has already put in place a program of interest-free loans to tenants who are struggling to make ends meet due to the pandemic of COVID-19. Another is providing financial support to households waiting for their principal residence.
