Rahmon urged the CIS countries to unite before the threat of terrorism

The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon called on CIS countries to unite before the threat of terrorism. This statement he made on the background activity of terrorist groups on the border of Tajikistan and Afghanistan, TV channel “MIR 24”.

Rahmon urged the participants of the meeting of the Council of heads of security bodies and special services of the CIS States in Dushanbe to expand cooperation in combating international terrorism, reports “Interfax”.

“The threat of international terrorism and extremism on the border of Tajikistan and Afghanistan, the southern border of the CIS more and more increasing, and to prevent these phenomena in this border area is a big role playing constant cohesion, cooperation, mutual assistance and support of the CIS States”, – said Rahmon.

According to him, the increasing activity of terrorist and extremist groups on the southern borders of the CIS poses a threat to security and stability in the region.

Rahmon also said the danger of terrorist use of cyberspace, has pointed to the problem of drug trafficking, which is one of the sources of terrorism financing, and encouraged the participants to expand cooperation in combating these crimes.
