The state Agency of Ukraine on exclusion zone management (GAS) has developed a draft law that envisages a significant strengthening of responsibility for unauthorized entry into a restricted zone. Now bill undergoes legal examination in the Ministry of justice. If the penalty for this violation is 20 to 30 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens, after the change from 100 to 250. Additional amendments prescribe punishment in the form of public works (40 to 60 hours) or administrative detention (5 to 10 days).

Pursuant to the decree of the President from 10.07.2019 № 512 “About some questions of development of territories exposed to radioactive pollution owing to Chernobyl accident”, the State Agency of Ukraine on exclusion zone management developed a draft law “On amendments to the Code of Ukraine on administrative offences concerning strengthening of responsibility for violation of requirements of radiation safety regime in the areas affected by radioactive contamination”.

“Its adoption will secure the rights of citizens to a safe environment, will reduce the number of violators of the exclusion zone and ensure that the degree of public danger of the offense to the degree of administrative responsibility”, – said the acting head of GAS Alexander Kovalchuk.

It is noted that the proposed changes involve not only increased financial responsibility for a violation, but public works and administrative arrest.

If the penalty for this violation is 20 to 30 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens, after the change from 100 to 250.

Additional amendments prescribe punishment in the form of public works (40 to 60 hours) or administrative detention (5 to 10 days).

As for officials, the fine will increase with 25-30 non-taxable minimum up to 200-1000.
