The former Governor of the Odessa region and ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili entered the list of the party “movement new forces” to participate in the extraordinary elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reports “Interfax”.
Saakashvili noted that his candidacy meets the requirements of the legislation. The politician noted that the deprivation of his citizenship was unlawful, because the relevant decree of the former President was abolished as the new head of state. The former Governor added that he intends to appeal the decision of the CEC of Ukraine in case of refusal of registration.
In addition, the list for the nomination were former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine David Sakvarelidze, social activist Oles Doniy, grandmaster Natalia Zhukova and former Minister of economy Volodymyr Lanovoy.
Recall that Mikheil Saakashvili has returned to Ukraine may 29 – immediately after President Vladimir Zelensky cancelled the decree of the former head of state Petro Poroshenko, on the deprivation of citizenship policy. On arrival he said he did not intend to try to take government posts.
