SAGUENAY – Then that is often lacking in NURSING homes, therapists, Saguenay, to raise their hand to go help. However, the CIUSSS Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean does not seem interested to make use of their services.
In fact, the CIUSSS Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean has responded to the therapists that they could not go to help in NURSING homes, because they need to avoid being infected, and remain available in the event of overflow at the hospital in Chicoutimi.
However, since the beginning of the crisis, their workload has decreased a lot. Several of them do virtually no hours or working only two days per week. The rest of the time they are at home to wait.
A respiratory therapist of the region therefore decided to write directly to the prime minister François Legault to have explanations and make clear its interest to lend a hand.
“Quebec is in crisis and in shortage of staff and during this time, we are several be in the house, in case the work load would increase so as to not create extra time. I find the situation appalling and selfish”, one can read in his letter.
The worker has agreed to answer questions of VAT New, but under the cover of anonymity. She explains that they are more than a dozen to be on-call only at the hospital in Chicoutimi. She and her colleagues are available, qualified and willing to go to the front now in a CHSLD.
“Me, I am healthy, all I ask is going to help… They send the army and full of people. But we, we are home and we can’t do anything,” laments she.
She would like to give a helping hand to her fellow nurses and charge to the beneficiaries, who are completely overwhelmed and out of breath in NURSING homes.
She and her fellow therapists are ready to help in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and elsewhere in Quebec, where there are needs.
