A vehicle in which Sergei Kostitsyn was riding is said to have hit a traffic light on Sunday in Minsk, Belarus.
At least that's what the Russian site Auto Onliner reported on Monday. The former Montreal Canadiens forward, however, claimed he was not behind the wheel, while police confirmed the driver refused to cooperate with police after the incident at 3.30am.
“The driver refused to take the blood alcohol test,” a police officer told the website. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated and the facts are being checked.
Kostitsyn played 353 National Hockey League (NHL) games with the Canadiens and the Nashville Predators, scoring 67 goals and totaling 176 points. He has been playing in the Continental Hockey League (KHL) since 2013.
