Series of the NHL: Max Pacioretty is not in Edmonton

Séries de la LNH: Max Pacioretty n’est pas à Edmonton

The attacker of the Golden Knights Vegas Max Pacioretty did not accompany his teammates in the city-bubble of Edmonton, where his team will take part in the playoffs of the national League.

“Max has suffered a minor injury in training camp, and I had talked to, said head coach Peter DeBoer, Monday, at his press conference. I was expecting it to be back before the end of the camp, but this was not the case. He is not with us, and it will happen as soon as it will be healthy and fit to play.”

The former captain of the Montreal canadiens has missed the last four workouts of the Golden Knights before they travel to Alberta.

Pacioretty has been the best striker of his training in the regular season this year. He hit the target 32 times in 71 parties. The U.s. has also provided 34 assists for 66 points.

In his absence, it is Nick Cousins, who has taken his place on the trio, completed by William Karlsson and Mark Stone.

The Golden Knights will compete in the minitournoi of the Association of the West, during the qualification round of the playoffs, as they are ranked in the top 4 in the standings.

This situation could allow Pacioretty to take his time before coming back to the game.

“I imagine that this is one of the benefits of having finished as high in the standings in the regular season, to have a little time during the round-robin tournament, said DeBoer. The other hand, we consider these games of the tournament in the round as a very significant meetings. You want to have the journey as easy as possible. We have the chance to grab the first rank of the West, which would be fantastic.”

The Knights will play a preparatory part against the Coyotes in Arizona on Thursday. They will begin their minitournoi against the Dallas Stars on Monday.
