Sports Business Journal Prize: MLS in good shape

Major League Soccer (MLS), its commissioner Don Garber and Minnesota United FC's home stadium, Allianz Field, were nominated for the Sports Business Journal awards ceremony on Monday.

MLS is in contention for Sports League of the Year, as are the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of the NCAA, the NFL and the WNBA.

Garber could, meanwhile, get his hands on the distinction of sports leader of the year. Baseball players' agent Scott Boras, Roger Penske and ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro, are the other candidates.

Ultimately, Allianz Field could be chosen as Sports Facility of the Year. The Chase Center (Golden State Warriors), Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse (Cleveland Cavaliers and Monsters), TD Garden (Boston Bruins and Celtics) and Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs) were also shortlisted for this award.

The ceremony will take place virtually on September 30 at 7 p.m.
