Sylvain Gaudreault will become the first official candidate in the race for the leadership of the Parti québécois this morning.
The mp of the parti québecois and ex-minister will table the 2,000 signatures and$ 15,000 is needed to enter the race to succeed Jean-François Lisée, according to the information of our parliamentary Bureau.
Sylvain Gaudreault will travel to the permanence of the PQ at 10 :00 this morning, in Montreal.
After a suspension due to the pandemic of the COVID-19, the race to the leadership of the PQ has taken on the 29th of may last. Applicants have until 26 June to submit their completed application form.
Discussions virtual will then take place on 15 August and 2 October. The election of the new head is scheduled for 9 October.
Tour of microbreweries
During the summer, Sylvain Gaudreault will continue on his tour of Quebec by inviting the activists to meet him in the local microbreweries. The mp of the parti québecois, has focused its campaign on buying local and take advantage of these small enterprises to promote the unique terroir.
Mr. Gaudreault provides, in particular, to visit the Côte-Nord, Bas-Saint-Laurent, the Gaspé and the Outaouais.
According to data available on the website of the Directeur général des élections du Québec (DGEQ), the member of parliament for Jonquière leads in the race for donations, with 48 175$ raised to date. Paul St-Pierre Plamondon following closely with 42 350$.
The other two main contenders, Frédéric Bastien and Guy Nantel, have collected respectively 24$ 108 and 15 074$.
However, the data of the DGEQ may show a delay on the collection of donations to actual candidates.
Two other aspirants, have also expressed their interest. Laurent Vézina has amassed 5 525$ to this day, while Gloriane Blais has harvested 675$.
