“Anatoly Semenovich was a great coach, a wonderful, wise man. He is always respectful of his pupils, gave a start in elite sport to an entire galaxy of talented wrestlers,” said the head of state.

According to Putin, Rakhlin taught their students to fight and win. Founded by trainer pedagogical principles continue to be used in the preparation of new athletes, he said.

The Russian leader himself was a disciple of Rachlin. He noted that was established in memory of the coach of the tournament from year to year is gaining popularity: to take part in it judoists of the best Russian and foreign clubs.

Anatoly Rakhlin was born on 23 may 1938 in Leningrad. Over time coaching has trained dozens of masters of sports in judo, received the title of honored trainer of the Russian Federation. Mentor passed away in 2013. On may 23, he would have turned 81 years old. Previously the coach had said that Putin could become a great athlete, if he continued to work as a professional judo.
