Ten activities to do during the Journées de la culture

Exceptionally, the Journées de la culture, which usually take place over a weekend, will take place for a month, due to the pandemic. Here are ten activities with participatory components and others online available until October 25.

Introduction to video mapping

Presented in conjunction with the Fishing History exhibition, this activity allows participants to tell a fishing story in pictures. The finished product will be projected, in the evening, on an exterior wall of the Museum. The videos will also be uploaded later.

Short films

The Spira cooperative offers four independent short films, which can be seen online, and which highlight the film industry. You will be able to watch The Vessels of Destiny (September 25 to October 1), Acadiana (October 2 to 8), Bonfires (October 9 to 15) and Roseline as in the movies (October 16 to 25). It will be uploaded at 9 a.m., the morning of the first broadcast, on the Spira Facebook page. There will then be an online discussion at noon with one of the makers of the featured film.

Making theater: a story of collaboration

Marie-Hélène Gendreau, actress, director and artistic director of the Périscope Theater, will talk about theater, during a talk that will take place in the auditorium on avenue Salaberry. You must reserve your place by writing an email to billetterie@theatreperiscope.qc.ca or by phone at 418-529-2183.

Slam workshop

The Moulin Marcoux in Pont-Rouge offers an initiation to poetry slam. An opportunity to break the ice and try out this art form in the company of slammer Thomas Langlois. You can register at lepointdevente.com/billets/mcx200909002/

Jazzy mama

Jazzy Mama will animate Place des Dudes, on Moncton Avenue, in the Upper Town, with a participatory show and rare musical instruments and various styles. She'll make people sing too

Window open to the heritage of the Ursulines

A series of video clips presents the favorites of the members of the Ursulines Monastery Cultural Center. These capsules are online on the page of the Cultural Pole of the Ursulines Monastery.

Richard Paré, the organist in residence at the Palais Montcalm, reveals the secrets of the Casavant organ at the Palais Montcalm. The musical instrument made in Saint-Hyacinthe has 2,846 pipes. This video document can be accessed at palaismontcalm.ca/orgue2020.

Jacques-Dominique Landry tells how he came up with the idea for the New France board game and the stages of creation until it goes on sale in stores.
