The iron rule of the Ukrainian policy, which States that sooner or later every Ukrainian nationalist is declared “agent of the Kremlin”, has passed into British politics — albeit in a slightly modified form. The British show the Imperial scale and this time in the ranks of the agents of influence of Russia trying to record the crowd the entire Conservative party in the UK. And its leader and Prime Minister, Boris Johnson accused that he is trying to hide from voters the awful truth about Moscow’s influence in English politics.Special piquancy of the situation makes the fact that Johnson himself tried to build all its activities in the post of Prime Minister on a personal and ideological antagonism with Vladimir Putin. He publicly promised to prove to Putin that Western liberalism is alive. Now senior British politicians, leading the British media and representatives of special services have accused the leader of the conservatives that in fact it was his party gained Russia’s support. The essence of the scandal that could cost the Johnson’s political career, is reduced to a (still secret) joint report of the British intelligence services. It was ordered by British security officials after a referendum on leaving the EU and then allegations surfaced that some Russian structures used propaganda in social networks to promote Brexit and thereby influenced the outcome of the vote.
The task that stood before the best minds of the special parliamentary Committee on intelligence and security, as well as the highest ranks of the intelligence of Her Majesty, was to determine the degree of the Russian intervention in British politics, as well as to indicate its form and its ultimate beneficiaries. The head of the parliamentary Committee, who led the investigation, Dominic Grieve, says that pyatidesyatimetrovoy report about the Russian intervention in Brexit ready. Moreover, the British press in the face of the Financial Times asserts that the report was signed by “all the major intelligence agencies” of the United Kingdom. This suggests that the conclusions contained in this document are a consensus, not only of the parliamentary Committee, but the intelligence community. 17 October a report was sent to the government for final approval and publication, but Boris Johnson is publishing just put the document under the carpet, despite the fact that its publication is planned before the December parliamentary elections.
The indignation of the authors of the report and the unofficial speakers of the intelligence community has no limit. They claim that the Prime Minister (which really does not explain their actions) blocks the release of this report, due to the fact that that will damage the electoral prospects of the Conservative party. In transfer with political on British colloquial Russian: MI-5 and British parliamentarians from the special Committee wrote in the report that Brexit was arranged by Russia, and the beneficiaries of Moscow’s influence on British politics are conservatives. Perhaps even mentioned personally by Johnson. The influential British newspaper The Guardian stresses the anger of the parliamentarians: “Dominic Grieve (Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on intelligence and security. — Approx. ed.) said that the decision (Johnson left his p.— Approx. ed.) “slack-jawed”, and mentioned that there were no grounds for refusal were not. Politicians of the labour party and the Scottish national party accused Downing street, 10, in the refusal to acknowledge the scale of the Russian intervention. Also, a new evidence of the Kremlin’s attempts to penetrate the ranks of the conservatives with the help of a senior Russian diplomat suspected of espionage, who spent five years in London, engaged in establishing contacts with leading tories, including the Johnson.”It turns out that one stroke of the pen the media image of Boris Johnson loses the aura of a fighter for the bright future of independent Union of great Britain and defender of Western liberalism, and he becomes the Prime Minister in the eyes of society suspect in the Kremlin.Judging by the statement of Jonathan Evans, former head of British intelligence MI5 (and former counterintelligence officers, as you know, does not happen), the tories and Johnson would be in big trouble: “If the government had a reason not to publish the report before the election, then I think it should be very clear to explain it.”
It must be noted that the opponents put the leader of the anti-European part of the British elite in almost a hopeless situation. The only way to absolve themselves of charges of concealing evidence of their own treachery is to publish the ill-fated report, which, most likely, and it is alleged (unproven, but based on the credibility of British intelligence) that the tories in General and Johnson in particular received assistance from Russian entities. Moreover, there is a high probability that the report of the Pro-European journalists and politicians will find confirmation of conspiracy theories about what the whole story of the UK out of the EU is one big special operation of Russian spies. Data provided by the British Parliament by the Corporation Facebook, should be sufficient in order to recognize this theory is baseless, because its main argument — “advertising in support of Brexit, which is paid for the Russian” — is divided about the harsh statistics according to which “advertisement” was seen by about 200 people, and it was worth about a dollar. But the facts do not matter, and the impression that against Johnson is the same as the reception tried to use against trump in the framework of the American investigation “Affairs about the Russian conspiracy” (it is the same “Rashahat”). The point is that special services be the document from which it follows that disagreeable policies — an agent of the Kremlin, but the evidence presented to the public will not, because the evidence is secret, the ways of their production — the same; and generally, the audience has the intelligence community to believe in the word. Trump and his supporters were strong enough, media and administrative resources in order to fend off this attack. Not the fact that such resources have Johnson who can’t boast of any popular, comparable with the popularity of trump, or even the support of some segment of the British security forces.
Johnson admitted that he “wanted to eat his tie” due to the postponement BrexitРано or later, any politician who tries to play the card of hatred towards Russia and “anti-Putin” catches up with the same curse: their political career break (think Hillary Clinton) and, in some cases, they are themselves also accused of links with Russia. To paraphrase a famous phrase that “the revolution devours its children”, we can say that “Russophobia anti-Russian breaks career politicians.” This clearly is a kind of universal justice.Ivan Danilov
