The Cabinet of Ministers to change the method of determining gas prices for the population, which will lead to its appreciation with a 4942 hryvnia per thousand cubic meters to UAH 5352.
The government is preparing to change the method of determining the gas prices for households from April 2018 that will lead to gas price hike by more than 8%. Relevant draft resolution prepared by the Ministry of energy and coal industry, Ukrainian news reports .
As noted, on April 1, is fully to move away from the principle of determining the price of gas for the population and review it every 6 months, depending on the prices of import parity.
Special obligations on the subjects of natural gas market to ensure that the public interest in the operation of the natural gas market will rely on the period 2018-2021. The gas price will be determined on a year from 1 April 2018 to 1 April 2019, and so on. It will be formed as the arithmetic mean price of imported gas on the German gas hub (NCG) excluding the cost of transit to the border of Ukraine (Hub). For the 6 months of the previous year – April 1 to September 30 and are converted into the national currency at the rate prevailing at the period of purchase.
As it became known, according to this methodology from 1 April 2018 the gas price for households could rise by 8.3%, that is, 4942 UAH per thousand cubic meters to UAH 5352 and it will operate until 1 April 2019.
