In Iraq the Ukrainian military can provide advice.
Ukraine is ready to take part in non-combat NATO mission in Iraq that will be the first step to expand cooperation with the Alliance. This was stated by the Minister of defense of Ukraine Andriy Zagorodnyuk.
According to Zagorodniuk, Ukraine’s participation in the NATO mission in Iraq will be of a consultative nature.
“We are talking about consultations and training for Iraq’s Armed forces for the maintenance of the equipment, which may have been produced in the Soviet era or after that, but this is where our deal specialists. This may be our first step to expand cooperation in NATO missions between Ukraine and the Alliance. This non-combat mission, is in the rear,” – said the Minister of defence.
Zagorodnyuk noted that at the moment between NATO and Ukraine held negotiations on the participation of the Ukrainian military mission in Iraq. However, he clarified that participation in the mission of the Alliance can take several dozen Ukrainian military on a rotational basis.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that NATO has approved a Comprehensive package of assistance to Ukraine. As reported, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, members of the Alliance are ready to support reforms in Ukraine.
It was also reported that, according to Stoltenberg, Ukraine will not need to submit a new application for a Plan of action on membership in the Alliance. He noted that the issue of map for Ukraine “is not in the focus of attention.”
