The EU has promised Moldova financial support

Second official visit of Maia Sandu. After the Romanian Prime-Minister of Moldova, visited Belgium, reports channel “MIR 24”. In Brussels, the Prime Minister met with President of the European Council Donald Tusk and the European Commissioner Johannes Hahn.

“Thank you for your support given to Moldova, in both good times and bad. Today Moldova is facing a difficult task related to the restoration of democratic institutions. They had suffered serious damage due to mismanagement, fraud and other problems. Moldova needs to start all over again,” said Sandu.

“We are ready to work with the new government of Moldova on the basis of mutual obligations and respect of our Association Agreement. We appreciated the intention of the Prime Minister in carrying out reforms, especially the depoliticization and the liberation of the state institutions from corruption. It is difficult, but Moldova can count on the support of the European Union, especially financially,” – said the European Commissioner for enlargement and neighbourhood policy Johannes Hahn.

This fall will be the first Association Council EU-Moldova. The parties will resume cooperation. Macro-financial assistance to the country was suspended last summer after the cancellation of local election results.
