The gusts that swept through the province on Thursday, have caused numerous power outages, especially in Montreal, in Laurentides, in Montérégie, in the region of Quebec.
Tens of thousands of homes were without electricity in the metropolis. They were more than 63,000 customers without power in the afternoon, then that evening, the number of outages had dropped to 8206 on the island of Montreal.
Across the province, 29 000 homes had not regained electricity. While the unsettled weather moved eastward, the region of Québec has avoided the damage while wind gusts were clocked at 70 km/h on several sectors. In the evening, around 460 Hydro-Quebec customers were still without electricity.
Second heat wave in sight
In the longer term, Quebec could see a second heat a little less intense as of next Tuesday. The first heat wave of the year 2020 is occurred from 26 to 29 may. Montreal had reached a maximum of 36.6 °C.
