On November 29, four police officers were indicted, and two placed in pre-trial detention. A judicial investigation was opened after Michel Zecler, a music producer, was violently assaulted by police officers. The judges ordered the release of the two imprisoned police officers on Tuesday, December 22, according to legal sources at AFP, information confirmed by RTL.
A 44-year-old brigadier and a peacekeeper, implicated in this case and placed until now in pre-trial detention, have been released, immediate release. The request had been previously made by their lawyers.
These two police officers are directly involved in the beating of Michel Zecler. They recognized the blows against the music producer but they had challenged the lynching motivated by racist hatred. They always have indicted for violence and forgery in public writing. They will be subject to very strict judicial control with a ban on entering into contact with the victim and the others indicted.
