The leader of the ruling Georgian party “Georgian dream”, Archil Talakvadze elected as the new speaker of the Georgian Parliament. At the plenary session on Tuesday, the majority of MPs supported his candidacy, reports “Interfax”.
Shortly before the vote, the politician promised to maintain Georgia’s course towards integration into the European Union and NATO, as well as to establish a dialogue with the opposition, whose representatives left the meeting room before the vote.
The opposition had planned to submit for consideration the question of the resignation of the interior Minister George Gakharia, however, the parliamentary majority rejected the initiative.
