The marathon in honor of Victory Day in Adygea joined 95-year-old veteran

In Adygea held a marathon in honor of Victory Day. It was attended by 95-year-old veteran of the great Patriotic war from Maykop Valentin Zhukov, reports TASS.

“The honourable and most senior member of our marathon was the representative of the generation of victors – participant in the defense of the Caucasus, the assault and capture of Berlin Valentin Zhukov Denisovich”, – said the head of the Committee for physical culture and sport of Maykop Dmitry Derbenev.

According to him, the pensioner has demonstrated to the youth an example of strong spirit and
of a healthy lifestyle. Valentin Zhukov traveled one kilometer and was awarded a medal and certificate. Communicating with young people, the man admitted that he likes to ride a bike, to do dumbbell exercises and makes daily walks.

Participants of the marathon were about 300 people, including guests from the Kuban. The sound of the orchestra they went with a bike parade through the main street of Maykop to the Central Park of culture and rest. The distance of the races ranged from 100 meters to 5 km. the Total has held 20 races on the ages of the participants. The youngest was three years.

Valentin Zhukov was conscripted in September 1941. He served as aviation mechanic 765 th attack aviation regiment 216 th mixed air division of the North Caucasus front. Has many awards. Just from Adygea called the front of 80 thousand people. 59 of them became heroes of the Soviet Union and full gentlemen of order of Glory.
